STURGILL SIMPSON SAYS HE WAS REFUSED COVID-19 TEST WHEN HE WAS SICK
UNDATED (AP) - Sturgill (STUR’-jil) Simpson says he is in quarantine after testing positive for the coronavirus, a month after he was refused a test. Simpson says after being on tour in Western Europe at the beginning of the year and touring the East Coast after that, he went to an emergency room on March 13 with chest pain, fever and high blood pressure. He says a doctor refused to test him for COVID-19 because he incorrectly told Simpson the virus was not in Western Europe and Simpson did not fit the criteria. Simpson says he got tested last Monday at a free facility in Nashville and found out Friday he tested positive. He is quarantined at home because his wife tested negative for the virus. The coronavirus causes only mild or moderate symptoms for most people, but it can cause more severe illness, especially older adults and people with existing health problems.

KANYE WEST’S DRAWINGS FEATURED ON “ANTIQUES ROADSHOW”
CHICAGO (AP) - An art specialist on the PBS series “Antiques Roadshow” estimates a series of drawings done by Kanye West when he was a high school student could be worth as much as $23,000. The Chicago Tribune reports art expert Laura Woolley evaluated the five portraits and landscapes that came into the possession of West’s cousin after West’s mother died in 2007. Rhonda Levy, who was one of West’s art teachers at Chicago’s Polaris High School in the 1990s, says two of the works were class assignments. In her words, “It’s just so weird having little Kanye as a freshman, and then here he is now one of the most famous people on Earth.”
MADDIE AND TAE FINALLY RELEASE SECOND ALBUM
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Maddie and Tae were given the option of delaying the release of their second album, “The Way It Feels,” and they responded with a resounding “NO!” Maddie Marlow says they had already postponed it four years because their original record label shut down. Marlow says releasing it during a pandemic is a good idea because people need music more than ever. Maddie and Tae had released two EPs last year, then combined them and added more songs to create a full-length album. Tae Dye says they did that because wanted fans to have time to digest the songs, because she and Marlow were making a big project with a lot of stories. “The Way It Feels” is out now.

ELVIS PRESLEY FRIEND AND HISTORIAN GUY HARRIS DIES
TUPELO, Miss. (AP) - A childhood friend of Elvis Presley who shared his memories with visitors to the Elvis Presley Birthplace and Museum in Tupelo, Mississippi, has died. Guy Harris died at the age of 81 on Monday, according to news reports. A cause of death was not given but his family obituary says he died at his daughter’s home after being hospitalized in December. Harris knew Presley before Presley became a superstar and they stayed friends until Presley died in 1977. Harris served as a historian at the Elvis Presley Birthplace. Harris told The Associated Press in 2010 Presley acted no differently after he became famous than he did before he was a household name.
