QUEEN RECUTS “CHAMPIONS” FOR CORONAVIRUS WORKERS
LONDON (AP) — Over the decades, the Queen song “We Are the Champions” has saluted athletes who play games. Now the song has been recut to salute those involved in life-and-death battles situations stemming from the coronavirus pandemic. The new song is “You Are the Champions” — the “you” in this case being health care workers, first responders and those who work to provide necessities like food and cleaning services. The new song is out today on all streaming and music download services. Proceeds from sales will go to the fund that the World Health Organization has set up to respond to COVID-19.

BRIAN STOKES MITCHELL SINGS FOR FRONT-LINE WORKERS IN NYC
NEW YORK (AP) — Lately, people in New York City have been cheering, banging pots and pans and honking car horns to salute front-line workers in the fight against COVID-19. But lately, there has been a smooth baritone mixed into the cacophony. It’s the voice of Broadway star Brian Stokes Mitchell. Over the past few weeks, each night at 7 p.m. Mitchell belts out “The Impossible Dream” — the classic tune from “Man of La Mancha.” His tribute to those fighting the disease comes from a personal place. He had the coronavirus last month and came close to being hospitalized. However, he says he’s better now, having been symptom free for three weeks.

MEMORIAL DAY PLANS SHIFTED BY CORONAVIRUS
NEW YORK (AP) — Each year, tens of thousands of people gather at the U.S. Capitol for the annual Memorial Day weekend concert. But because this year’s event has been scuttled by the coronavirus outbreak, plans are under way to recreate it — without crowds. PBS says Trace Adkins, Cynthia Erivo, Renee Fleming and Christopher Jackson will be on the broadcast, doing songs recorded remotely. In some cases, the songs will be done on the Capitol grounds — under social distancing guidelines, of course. Producers will also have special messages from Jennifer Garner, Jon Hamm, Dule (doo-LAY’) Hill, Lisa Kudrow and Gwyneth Paltrow. The event is set for May 24 from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., eastern.

And following in their footsteps, Rishi Kapoor appeared in more than 90 films.
