LOS ANGELES (AP) — Kelly Clarkson wears many hats: singer, talk show host and judge on the TV show “The Voice.” One hat she’s shedding, though, is being married. She’s divorcing hubby Brandon Blackstock. The papers were filed last week in Los Angeles, with Clarkson citing irreconcilable differences as the reason. She has also asked not to have to pay spousal support for her ex-to-be. They have two kids: a girl, 5 and a boy, 4.
NORAH JONES RELEASES NEW ALBUM
NEW YORK (AP) — Norah Jones isn’t talking about what had her so down when she was making the music on her new album. But if you listen, you can tell whatever it was, it was deep. Jones says she “was sad” while creating the songs for the album, which drops today. And Jones says the title, “Pick Me Up Off the Floor,” has a double meaning. One: the songs were sitting around after two years of recording. The other is that she felt she needed a pick-me-up after being so down.

GARTH BROOKS CONCERT
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Garth Brooks plans to perform a single show for 300 venues later this month. But there’s no time-travel involved. He will sing in Nashville on June 27th — and the concert will be seen at 300 drive-in theaters nationwide. The performance will follow guidelines recommended by federal, state and local officials to prevent spread of the coronavirus. Tickets at each venue will be limited and social distancing rules will be in place. Tickets go on sale a week from today.
CHANGES IN STORE FOR OSCARS
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) — Some big changes are being planned for the Oscars. They include having a set number of best picture nominees and new standards for eligibility. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences says there will be 10 best picture nominees beginning with the 94th Academy Awards in 2022. The organization is also planning to implement new eligibility requirements with an eye toward diversity in collaboration with the Producers Guild of America that will be finalized by the end of July. Neither change will affect the 93rd Academy Awards set to be held in Los Angeles on Feb. 28, 2021.
