ACADEMY DELAYS 2021 OSCARS CEREMONY
UNDATED (AP) — For the fourth time in its history, the Oscars are being postponed. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences said Monday that the 93rd Academy Awards will now be held on April 25, 2021, eight weeks later than originally planned because of the pandemic’s effects on the movie industry. The Academy’s Board of Governors also decided to extend the eligibility window beyond the calendar year to Feb. 28, 2021. Other entertainment industry awards shows are also in flux, like the Tony Awards. The 74th Tony Awards, originally set for June 7, has been postponed indefinitely.

The officers have been placed on administrative reassignment while the shooting is investigated. Taylor was shot eight times by officers conducting a narcotics investigation on March 13. No drugs were found at her home. After days of protests and calls for reform, the city of Louisville last week banned the used of controversial no-knock warrants.

NEW YORK (AP) — Queen Latifah plays Oscar-winner Hattie McDaniel in the Netflix series “Hollywood.” And she has a simple reaction to HBO Max's decision last week to pull “Gone With the Wind” from its service temporarily: good riddance. Some have been conflicted about removing the problematic Civil War epic that made McDaniel the first African American to win an Oscar from the service. Latifah says McDaniel's treatment before and after the win removes the luster of her achievement. Latifah also spoke about her reaction to protests in the wake of George Floyd's death, saying the worldwide outpouring is like nothing she's seen before.
