SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — The Illinois Department of Public Health on Friday reported an additional 1,532 confirmed cases of coronavirus, down slightly from the 1,624 new infections reported the day before, the highest number since May. The total number cases in Illinois has reached 168,457.

The latest numbers puts the preliminary seven-day statewide positivity rate for coronavirus cases at 3.4%. Illinois officials announced 19 deaths, bringing that total to 7,385 fatalities.

The health department reports four counties, Adams, LaSalle, Peoria and Randolph counties have reached the warning level for the spread of the virus. All four counties have seen outbreaks of coronavirus due to various risk factors, including numerous bars failing to comply with social distancing and mask requirements, and large gatherings.

The warnings don’t necessarily change a region’s lockdown level, officials said. The information is intended to help local leaders, businesses, local health departments, and the public make informed decisions about personal and family gatherings, as well as what activities they choose to do.
