Good thing the men’s slopestyle skiing competition is on Sunday. Any later and American star Gus Kenworthy might run out of healthy body parts.
Kenworthy, a silver medalist when the sport made its debut in Sochi four years ago, broke his left thumb during a training run on Thursday. On Friday he smashed his right hip, leading to a sizable hematoma that doctors were forced to drain so he could compete.
Kenworthy expects to be ready to go. He managed to find enough time on Saturday to cheer on friend Adam Rippon as the American skater competed in the men’s long program. Kenworthy joked on Instagram he was pregnant with a girl as doctors used an ultrasound to get a closer look at the injury.
