Ban on renter evictions during COVID-19 pandemic is extended

Isabel Miranda's 4-year-old son, Julian, rides his bike into the hallway, Wednesday, March 10, 2021, of their rental apartment in Haverhill, Mass. The Biden administration is extending a federal moratorium on evictions of tenants who've fallen behind on rent during the coronavirus pandemic. Miranda, who has an eviction hearing next month from the apartment, said she had mixed feelings about the extension. She worries that the courts and the landlord will not recognize the federal moratorium but also recognizes it gives her time to come up with the nearly $10,000 in back rent.
