GABRIELLE UNION COMPLAINS TO CA. OVER “AGT” FIRING
LOS ANGELES (AP) — The spat pitting Gabrielle Union against NBC and the producers of “America’s Got Talent” shows no sign of cooling off. The actress was fired after just one season on “America’s Got Talent.” She says she was let go because she complained to NBC about racism on the set and behind the scenes. NBC hired an independent probe which cleared the network and AGT producers of wrongdoing. Now, Union has complained to the state of California. One of the new claims in her filing is that NBC undermined the very investigation the network says vindicated it.

VIRUS OUTBREAK- THE TOLL
UNDATED (AP) — The coronavirus has claimed the lives of artists and artisans, writers and actors, musicians and media figures. Those lost to the outbreak include Jenny Polanco, who reached unprecedented heights in fashion for a designer from the Dominican Republic. She took her designs to the runways of Paris and New York but never left her Dominican home. Also lost was Tim Brooke-Taylor, whose comedy trio, the Goodies, was part of a golden age of British comedy. And Joe Diffie, who was born in Oklahoma and grew up to become one of the kings of Nashville in the 1990s. Country duo Big & Rich say Diffie " was a real true honky tonk hero to every country artist alive today.”
COMPOSERS WILLIAMS, MORRICONE HONORED FOR FILM SCORES
MADRID (AP) — A Spanish foundation has awarded one of the country’s most prestigious awards to composers Ennio Morricone and John Williams for their film work. The jury that decides the Princess of Asturias Awards says the Italian and American composers “have enriched hundreds of films with their talent.” The pair “demonstrate complete mastery of composition as well as narrative, building emotion, tension and lyricism at the service of cinematographic images.” The 88-year-old Williams has scored movies such as “Star Wars,” “Jaws,” the “Indiana Jones” series and the first three “Harry Potter” films. The 91-year-old Morricone has over the past seven decades produced more than 400 scores for cinema and television.
