UNDATED (AP) — More negotiations are planned in the days ahead, with the goal of resuming the NBA season at a single location in Orlando, Florida with a 22-team format. Players will have to practice social distancing when they aren't playing, plus submit to a quarantine at the beginning of the time there. And there will likely be daily testing for the entirety of their stay there. The season is set to resume July 31, with playoffs starting in mid-August.

NEW YORK (AP) — Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant says he won’t play if the season resumes, telling The Undefeated, “My season is over.” Durant ruptured an Achilles tendon a year ago for Golden State in Game 5 of the NBA Finals against Toronto. He says it was decided after the injury that he would wait until the following season to return to action. He also had COVID-19 this year. The Nets currently hold the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — IndyCar drivers are finally back on the track for what usually would be the midpoint of their season. The open-wheel series has started an all-in-one-day event at Texas Motor Speedway to open the season nearly three months later than expected because of the coronavirus pandemic. A two-hour practice session will be followed by qualifying and the 200-lap race on the 1 1/2-mile oval. The massive grandstands can hold more than 100,000 fans. But they were empty since no spectators are allowed.

BERLIN (AP) — Germany’s soccer league has been marked by gestures against racism and support for the Black Lives Matter movement today. All of the 22 outfield players took a knee in the center-circle together before the top tier's late game with no fans present. Coaches and other team members from both sides did likewise beside the field, bringing to mind former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s protest before games against police brutality and racial inequality.

HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam (AP) — Soccer was back and so were the spectators in Vietnam when the top domestic league resumed after the coronavirus shutdown. More than 1,000 fans attended the game at Hai Phong. Allowing spectators to the matches was the result of Vietnam’s successful efforts to contain the spread of coronavirus. Despite sharing a long land border with China, Vietnam, with a population of almost 100 million, has recorded just 328 cases and not a single recorded death.
