Chen completes 6 quads to win world figure skating title

ASSAGO, Italy (AP) — Nathan Chen completed six quadruples and bettered his Olympic free skate score to win the world figure skating title on Saturday.

The 18-year-old American was the only competitor in the last group not to fall.

Japan's Shoma Uno won silver despite three spectacular falls, matching his silver at the Pyeongchang Olympics.

Russian Mikhail Kolyada fell twice but still won the bronze.

Ukraine backs down on sports boycott of Russia

KIEV, Ukraine (AP) — Ukraine has backed down on a sports boycott of neighboring Russia, a month after banning its athletes from competing there.

The Ukrainian government announced the boycott last month, citing Russian involvement in the conflict in eastern Ukraine and its record of doping in sports.

However, with the national wrestling team due to compete at the upcoming European championships in Russia, the boycott measure has been changed.
